Book Review: "The World Needs You" by JP Michel - A New Approach to Career Development

As a career and executive coach with years of experience in both K-12 education and private practice at Careers by Design, I recently had the opportunity to listen to JP Michel’s thought-provoking book The World Needs You during my daily commutes. What really stood out to me wasn’t just the content, but how seamlessly JP’s ideas aligned with and deepened my own views on career development.

These tools make the book's ideas actionable, helping readers apply the Challenge Mindset to their own career journeys.

What really hit home for me, though, was JP’s reimagining of the role of career professionals. We’re not gatekeepers or job matchmakers—we’re facilitators, helping individuals discover their “why” through the lens of the challenges they want to tackle. This shift in perspective is empowering not only for those we work with but also for us as career professionals.
