Book Review: The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck
What is the book about?
Written by an adult male blogger, this book is designed to guide oneself to handling adversity and provide advice on being more realistic.
Author: Mark Manson
Genre: Self Help
Words that describe this book:
Witty, Candid, Useful, and Lively.
Favorite quote(s):
“We all love to take responsibility for success and happiness. Hell, we often fight over who gets to be responsibility for success and happieness. But taking responsibility for our problems is far more important, because that's where the real leanrining comes from. That's where the real-life improvement comes from” (102).
“Whatever your problems are, the concept is the same: solve problems; be happy. Unfortunately, for many people, life doesn't feel that simple” (32).
Dislikes: I really did not love the author's smug attitude on life and approach to reality. I also believe that his life and examples used throughout the book were difficult to relate to (perhaps because I am a younger female). Although this is a New York Times Bestseller, I would not recommend this book to my family and peers.
Price: $12.99 New on Amazon.
The Verdict: 4.8/10
Overall the book provides a new approach to living a good life but not in a realistic way to younger individuals. Mark Manson is witty and a true observer but not someone I would prefer to read more from.
