A glimpse into our blanket making event last week in Denver! All together, we made nearly a dozen blankets for Children's Hospital Colorado to share with the kiddos in their facility. We're looking forward to more give back events in the future. ??

Did you know that people with diabetes face a higher risk of developing an eating disorder? People with certain types of diabetes are more prone to specific behaviors, like: ?? Those with type 1 diabetes are more likely to engage in purging, which is a way of getting rid of calories with the goal of losing weight. ?? Misusing insulin to control weight is a dangerous form of purging commonly used by individuals with type 1 diabetes. ?? Those with type 2 diabetes are more likely to binge eat without purging, especially at night. Eating disorders impact 30-40% of young females with type 1 diabetes, pointing to the urgency to raise awareness of eating disorders in this population. In this piece, we focus on how to help individuals with type 1 diabetes who are showing signs of an eating disorder: https://bit.ly/3zV7aki

I am feeling incredibly inspired and extra energized after spending two days alongside Dr. Ovidio Bermudez, MD, FAAP, FSAHM, FAED, F.iaedp, CEDS, and Jim Olin, Professionals Relations Manager at ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders & Severe Malnutrition at Denver Health to bring insightful and impactful conversation to dedicated eating disorder and medical professionals in Lexington, Kentucky with Eating Recovery Center. We had a wonderful evening connecting with industry thought leaders at Lost Palm for a networking social hour on Monday. The following day, Dr. Bermudez shared his expertise with the amazing pediatric team at Kentucky Children’s Hospital UK HealthCare for a Grand Rounds presentation, ‘Cultivating Resilience: Adressing Fear and Encouraging Tolerance in ARFID’. Dr. Bermudez later gave an informative CE presentation on ‘Exploring the Implications of GLP-1 use in Pediatric Populations’ over a delightful dinner to professionals who are truly passionate about learning how to navigate the best practices for these medications in the pediatric population. I am so grateful for Dr. Bermudez’s willingness to share his expertise in our field and all the remarkable professionals that were so welcoming and supportive of the discussions surrounding eating disorders. Thank you all who contributed to making our visit to Lexington a memorable and successful experience.
