We all start with big Dreams, Hope, Love, Care, good intentions, Patriotism, Honesty, Compassion, and Passion etc. Somewhere along the way, we give up dreams, leave hope, and become liar, cheater and what not! We live with hopelessness, without compassion and justified dishonesty. We become so selfish with our life that we die to live instead of live to die.
Why Do We Lose Hope and Innocence?
Somewhere in our journey, something happened to all of us. We go to school, learn new things to open our mind and form useful opinions, in the process we become so opinionated that we close our mind to learn anything new perspective. We regret our lost youth, our dimming enthusiasm, troubles at work, and unhappiness around the world. “The world just doesn't work. Its an idea whose time has gone.” hopeless! Something happened to all of us.
We have exchanged our innocent childhood with the spiritless intelligence. Eventually all of us know what we want to be when we grow up, we want to be an innocent kid again. But we won’t be, because SOMETHING HAPPENED! “Something Happened’ by Joseph Heller (yeah, same guy who wrote Catch 22) The unhappiest book ever written! So, Is this book any good?
Yes. It is brilliantly put together and hypnotic to read. No book will come closer to mundane detailing for our day-to-day life. Joseph Hellers (Catch 22) concentration and patience (it took him 13 years) are so evident on every page that one can only say that Something Happened is at all points precisely what he hoped it would be. It is full of excellent jokes, which are not funny. It will lynch the hypocrisy around your thoughts. It tells a tale of pain and disappointments experienced by mediocre men of good will.
See around and all of us will find potentially brilliant people chasing slavery with such elegance. Where is that hope, the belief, that confidence? Something happened to all of us, other wise how would you explain the world the way it is!
