Book Review #1:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Book Review #1:

A Fable about Following Your Dream.

This book was recommended to me by many and one fine day in a bookstall I saw this book and bought it right away. Since then, everything around me has just turned into the Egyptian Desert. I started reading The Alchemist on the very next afternoon which was a typical sunny afternoon. I just cannot feel more peaceful and calmer than while reading The Alchemist. I took the book with me everywhere I went. I was just loving the way Paulo Coelho described the journey of Santiago, the boy who goes in search of the treasure.

I have always looked at reading as a form of meditation. I personally think that the two things are very similar. Whenever I used to read The Alchemist, I used to play Arabian music which gave me a combined experience of reading. I felt like I was in Egypt searching for my treasure. But honestly, it is so well written that I really want to go visit the places mentioned in the book. This book is a must-read for those who love traveling, and who are wanderers like me.

Apart from that the beautiful lessons that the book gave me were priceless. How things change drastically, how having a purpose in your life can lead you to unexpected beautiful destinations, “Maktub” which means ‘everything is written’, the concept of destiny, the treasure is nowhere other than within us. In this doomed generation where everybody struggles to understand what true love is, this story of the boy and a girl he meets in the middle of the desert known as Fatima leaves us with the meaning of true love. And the hand which writes our destiny is none other than our own hand. The book is filled with so many beautiful lessons in just one journey that a boy took out of his comfort zone and beyond his fears.

Overall, you can read this book in a day or two, its a beautiful read, takes you to a whole new world altogether.

My Favourite lines:

-??????? It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting,.
-??????? “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it,” the old king had said.
-??????? And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.
Maktub thought the boy.
-??????? “It’s not what enters men’s mouths that’s evil,” said the alchemist. “It’s what comes out of their mouths that is.”
-??????? “….one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon’…”
