Book Release: Rugby
It is my second book release about the sport of rugby this year. After the strength & conditioning book with my colleagues Jan Treuholz and Mark Sandmann, this book is an introduction the sports of rugby.
Since the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, rugby sport is experiencing a huge boom worldwide. In particular, the Olympic 7-rugby is on the rise worldwide and more than 12 million people of all ages and sex in more than 120 countries play the game with the "egg". The very physical, dynamic and spectacular sport conveys values such as team spirit, fairness, respect and discipline.
But not only the number of rugby players is increasing worldwide. The media and spectator interest in the Rugby World Cup, the 7th Rugby World Cup and the World Series tournaments has been steadily increasing in recent years and so on
The Rugby World Cup is now the third largest sporting event in the world after the Olympic Games and World Cups.
Even in Germany - so far a marginal sport - the interest in rugby is increasing steadily and the membership of the clubs have consistently double-digit growth rates. No team sport has received such a grant in recent years. In his book "Rugby: Everything You Need to Know", sports manager Ralf Ivan gives an introduction to the global sport of rugby.
The reader gets taught in the small rules of the essential elements of the game, can distinguish the classic 15er rugby from the Olympic 7er Rugby and gets an insight into the history of the sport. The author introduces the most famous protagonists of the sport - players, creators and managers of the sport - as well as the well-known leagues and event formats, from the Rugby World Cup to the Sevens World Series.
The author ventures an outlook for Germany and internationally for the sport beyond the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
