How Can Book Awards Improve Your Visibility and Reputation?

Did you know that book awards are an important part of an author’s journey?

An award win leads to:?

  • Recognition: A book award distinguishes authors and their books from other authors in that genre, offering a boost of confidence.
  • Credibility: Winning a book award establishes an author as a leading expert in his or her field. This can open up new opportunities for authors, including speaking engagements.?
  • Visibility: An award-winning book can receive increased attention from media outlets and bookstores, which can have a significant impact on sales.?
  • Influence: A winning book can influence trends in the literary world and set the bar for future writers and publishers.?
  • Legacy: An award win creates a lasting legacy within the literary world, as well as within someone’s personal and professional life.

Ways to Use an Orphaned Book

You could end up with an orphaned book if your publisher goes out of business or chooses to put your book out of print. While this can be a concerning or overwhelming experience, there are some benefits:

  • You can republish the book and set it up for distribution as a new product.?
  • You have the opportunity to update, correct, or refine your book to keep it current and incorporate your new and best thinking.?
  • You can refresh the cover if you desire.?
  • You can try new formats, like producing a paperback if the book was previously released in hardcover or adding an audiobook if you didn’t previously produce one.

In each newsletter, we’ll be introducing a member of our team so you can get to know us better. This month, we’re proud to introduce Wendy Haan, marketing services manager.?

Wendy Haan, Marketing Services Manager

Wendy has built a longstanding career in marketing and has deep experience in many industries. During her nearly three years with Weaving Influence, she has worked with more than 25 authors, helping them achieve their book marketing goals. Wendy utilizes her deep expertise to help clients succeed through virtual event planning (including webinars), digital content creation, website production, and book production.?

In her words: “The best part of working at Weaving Influence is the unique perspectives each author offers and the endless learning from their insights.”?

When not actively supporting her clients and the Weaving Influence team, Wendy loves flower gardening, creating beautiful outdoor spaces, and exercising in nature. She starts every day at 7 AM with a walk (no matter the crazy Michigan weather!). Wendy is married, the youngest of four sisters, and a dog mom to three Yorkies: Ici Umbala, Iyke, and Quinn (see the cuteness below).
