A Book List for #AgeismAwarenessDay and beyond: Before we #TalkAboutAgeism, let's help others learn more about it

Hi, everyone!

Today is #AgeismAwarenessDay, sponsored in the U.S. by the American Society on Aging (ASA) and as someone who talks about ageism every day, I couldn't be more thrilled.

I'm about to facilitate a workshop/presentation on Ending Ageism Together for ASA, and one of the things I'll be talking about is the importance of preaching beyond the choir, as well as the importance of micro-actions, small steps that anyone can take to reduce ageism.

One of them is to host or schedule a book club conversation about ageism, in a public library, bookstore or other setting where we can reach people who are NOT the usual suspects (you know who you are).

My Anti-Ageism Reading List

And here is a list of books that would be excellent for these conversations:

Released in 2024

Sky Bergman's Lives Well Lived

Jeanette Leardi's Aging Sideways

Released in 2022

Becca Levy's Breaking the Age Code

Tracy Gendron's Ageism Unmasked

And--from the OG of ageism

Ashton Applewhite's This Chair Rocks

Suggested by readers!

Bonnie Marcus' Not Done Yet

Ellie Berger's Ageism at Work

What are your favorites?

If you have other books about ageism (not about longevity generally or aging well, etc.) you'd like to recommend, please let me know in the comments.

Yes, together we can #EndAgeism!
