The first hours of the day are when heroes are created. If you want to master your life, start with the mornings. Freedom from distraction at 5:00 a.m. will allow you to enhance your creativity, maximize your fitness, and protect your serenity in this age of complexity. Set your alarm clock half an hour early and deceive yourself into waking up at 5:00 a.m.

First, purchase an alarm clock. Technology is inherently distracting and should never be used in the bedroom. Once you've got a wonderful old-fashioned clock, set it to a half-hour fast. Set your alarm for 5:30 a.m. That way, when you wake up the next morning, you'll fool yourself into believing you're getting up later. When the alarm goes off, get out of bed right away, before the weaker side of your personality can come up with excuses to stay under the covers.

???Fixing the Tech Industry

Technologists are hardly ever early risers, and after reviewing this book, it might be why we aren’t as successful as we might like. There is true power in waking up before the rest of the world starts bombarding you with their noise and everything they have to offer.

Personally, I do some of my best work at night, once the kids and wife have both gone to bed. But maybe I’ll try this 5 am thing for a little bit and see what happens. (I got up at 5 am to write this through sheer coincidence whereas normally I write around 11 pm) Either way, we could all use more health and more meditation in our daily lives, and 5 am is as good a time as any. (But do what you need to thrive! Don’t let anyone tell you the secret to success is when you wake up, it’s way more than that.

Great book recommendation Jason Ziebarth. I'm following that approach since some time now (less or more strict). And I really enjoy this early morning energy and activating my brain and day. Did you try that approach too?
