?? Cognition of the Book’s Big Idea:
Successful leaders excel at managing people: they evaluate them using a transparent and fair approach, coach them to grow in their careers, and foster an environment of candor and integrity in which everyone wants to contribute their ideas and improve the way business is done. Get excited about what you're doing, and make sure your team is too. How should you manage your employees? Allow thoughts and opinions to flow freely, encouraging candor and giving everyone a voice. Use the 20-70-10 approach to evaluate and differentiate your employees, and prioritize their management. Hire selectively and meticulously, and fire transparently and fairly. To be a good leader, prioritize your people, set a good example, and don't be concerned about popularity.
How should you handle strategy, development, change, and crises? Your purpose outlines how you intend to win, and your values describe the actions that will bring you there. The strategy is straightforward: identify a winning move and then assemble the necessary people and processes to put it into action. Forget rigid annual budgeting; planning should be flexible and motivating. Get excited about new projects, but proceed with caution when making acquisitions. Make a case for change, then focus on those who support you and identify those who do not. Crises will occur; always assume the worst and seek to learn from them. How do you have a successful career?
Try many occupations until you find one that interests you. To progress your career, offer outstanding outcomes and avoid being a thorn in your boss's side.
???Fixing the Tech Industry
Everyone wants to be successful, and anyone who has been part of a company has known success and also failure. It’s an ever changing world we live in. Disruption is around every corner, it’s a very competitive market. Success should be seen as profit, yes, but the organizations that put their best effort into taking care of their employees are the ones that the employees will do everything for. They will be productive and focused, just because they know you care for them and that your Business relies on them. Some will always just not care, some will take advantage, but overall, treating humans with respect will always be the right play.
