Entrepreneurial Nonprofit Executive & Strategic Leader | Chief Operating Officer at Horatio Alger Association
A recent article from The Wall Street Journal paints a sobering picture of the American Dream slipping out of reach for many, especially the younger generations. While challenges like rising costs and economic hardship are real, the dream of upward mobility through education remains a powerful and attainable pathway in America. At the Horatio Alger Association, we believe that access to higher education is key to unlocking the opportunities that drive the American Dream. By providing scholarships and support services to students from under-resourced communities, our Members are helping level the playing field and ensure that the promise of upward mobility is not just a hope, but a reality for young people. The American Dream is not just about owning a home or retiring comfortably—it's about having the opportunity to strive, rise above circumstances, and succeed. Through education, we are empowering the next generation to break barriers, achieve their goals, and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities. Let’s continue to support initiatives that make the American Dream accessible to all. Together, we can ensure that hard work and determination still lead to success in this great country! #AmericanDream #opportunity #education #highereducation #upwardmobility #HoratioAlgerAssociation #college #university #students #studentsuccess #youth #youthdevelopment #mentoring #mentorship #leadership #studentdebt

A recent article from Scripps News highlights a study by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, which found that most college students have a limited understanding of how government works. Last month, the Association proudly hosted our inaugural American Enterprise Summit in partnership with the Close Up Foundation to tackle this issue head-on. At the Horatio Alger Association, we believe it is critical for our nation’s youth to learn about the values that defined the founding of America and how they continue to shape the ideals of citizens today. The event convened over 100 students and teachers from across the country to engage in a series of workshops on education, civic engagement and the free-enterprise system, as well as to tour several of Washington, D.C.’s most historic sites and monuments.
