“Bonds Unforeseen”: the power of connection at Danida Fellowship Centre.

Learning is more than absorbing knowledge, it’s about meeting new people, feeling at home in a foreign country, and experiencing emotions that tie us together across borders.

Oboli Augustine is a fellow from Danida Fellowship Centre’s Organisational Change Management learning programme, and in this beautiful poem he sent us - Bonds Unforeseen – he managed to capture not only his, but every Danida fellow′s journey.

BONDS UNFORESEEN

Life nearly always seems as ugly as a toad

Crawling the pathways, with amusing overload

Denoting gloom or bloom

DFC sees bloom and beauty in universality of man

And summons an agglomeration of nations under one roof to advance knowledge and global understanding

The welcome night at the café was telling

Nervous glances across a constellation of eighteen new faces

Jitters of a new place and unfamiliar persons

Cold snowy morning transforms unfamiliar faces to friends without borders

The ice of differences broken walking together to catch the train to COWI

Study moments bring laughter and joy

Seating together, bonding found a voice in intertwine of cultures, and seeds of friendship fully blown

Experiences shared learning from each other

Explorations undertaken and the stories told

To enrich our collective experiences

The world became one in us

In our different hues and colouration, a rich tapestry was sewn
