Secours Health System Staff Awards? : - Day Care Unit - Clear as Water campaign.

Due to Covid19 and the implementation of infection control measures, the Day Care Unit experienced a reduction of patient treatment chairs in line with social distancing guidelines.?In order to address the loss, the day prior to a patient's procedure, the team carry out an over-the-phone pre-assessment. This proved to be very effective as it outlines any alerts patients may have, such as diabetes, infection control alerts and any allergies. It also highlights to nurses the medications patients are taking and the appropriate advice can be given regarding same. Pre-assessing our patients also provides an opportunity to ensure they have received and understood their pre procedure instructions. This optimises the results of treatment and eliminates any confusion or queries patients may have. Pre-assessment also highlights any cultural or spiritual requirements patients may have which can be facilitated with a visit from the pastoral care team if requested.? The team introduced an innovative visual aid colour chart to aid patients in a straightforward and easy way to interpret information regarding their procedures.

Bon Secours Health System Staff Award - - Early Discharge Process developed by a multi-disciplinary team 1st floor ward Limerick.

The initiative was to improve patient discharge and to put a drive on safe but effective patient turnover. Both were initiated by the creation and implementation of bedside discharge checklists provided to the patient on arrival to their bed, and checklist envelopes enclosing all necessary discharge information thought to the patient by nursing staff.

The Limerick Hospital received 6 nominations for these awards to include :
