The Bomber – From A Customer Perspective

Hand-Bombing (the act of loading/unloading trucks and pallets manually) has been a constant source of concern for warehouse and operations mangers; especially those working in and dealing with brewing companies.

·??????It’s time consuming.

·??????The loads are heavy.

·??????The incidences of injury are frequent, leading to lost time, modified work for affected employees, lower morale and higher overall costs.

I recently had a chat with Garrett Sanders of Boulevard Brewing Company who gave me his account of why he finds QTEK’s Bomber to be an invaluable addition to his warehouse.

Garrett met QTEK President Paul Redman in and around 2011 during a period he was researching layer pickers and stumbled across The Bomber. After a meeting at the Sierra Nevada facility where Garrett was shown a Bomber in action, his eyes were opened to several essential fixes for problems he faced. For one thing, Garrett was experiencing a welcome spike in new business that was increasing the size of the pallets he was shipping. With only a small number of workers on his team, time and effort were a factor.

When I asked what specific pros he found after obtaining Bombers (he now owns two), Garrett told me:

·??????Safety factor! Not only are his workers protected from injuries, Garrett has seen a drop in his insurance rates due to use of The Bomber.

·??????The Bomber lowers the possibility of product damage. Garrett claims his damage has gone to virtually zero.

·??????The functionality of The Bomber is operator friendly and, once the user becomes comfortable the speed just increases.

Something else Garrett mentioned during our conversation, was his observation that some competitor solutions to The Bomber require additions to the forks of the Walkie Rider or Fork Lift. This is something that is not needed with QTEK machines.

Overall Garrett claims that The Bomber has made life much easier for his employees and has met the mandate for increasing safety, speed and efficiency to his warehouse.

Thanks very much to Garrett Sanders for sharing his thoughts with us!

A funny story about QTEK's Bomber: The Bomber has been on the market since 1999. After 9/11, out of respect to our American customers, we decided to change the name to "The Repalletizer". A descriptive name but not as sexy as "The Bomber". Many of our American customers called me to say they liked the name Bomber, and think we should change it back. Less than a year later, the machine was again named, "The Bomber".
