To boldly go where no man has gone before

In case you missed it, Women in Wireless is now mbolden (@wearembolden). We were fortunate to be invited to rename and redesign the brand that brings together such an amazing group of women.

Women in Wireless champions women in leadership in the mobile, digital and tech industries through content, corporate partnerships and events. Their 12,000-strong community connects, inspires and emboldens women across the globe. As technology, business and the work place have evolved since its inception, Women in Wireless required a brand identity to reflect its values, members and achievements. Through our partnership with Women in Wireless leadership and its members, at Analogous, we created a brand platform includes: Naming. Now mBolden, Logo and Identity System.

Naming

mBolden is about inspiring, connecting, fostering confidence, support and championing experts in technology. Because its vision is inclusive — delivering value to men and women — we explored names that the entire workforce and partner network could engage with. The use of the “m” rather than “em” highlights technology as a key ingredient for its members and partners.

Logo and Identity System

The typographic character of the logo was developed from a custom font construction based on very simple geometric shapes: the circle and the rectangle. These basic and powerful elements communicate the nature of the organization. That is, individuals getting together to create a stronger, bigger organization, empowering each of its members and creating something new. The rounded font welcomes everyone to be the best version of themselves, whatever their goals. The overall effect is a stable, grounded organization that is always evolving.

We also employed transparency effects between the basic shapes that form the logo to illustrate the richness of the results when all its members get together. In this case, mBolden’s members are diverse in their background, specialties, experience levels and interests.

Another notable characteristic is the color palette. It is comprised of a tone of purple which connect echoes the earlier identity and heritage. However, we also explored secondary and tertiary color options. Bright berry and orange provide energy. Notably, the identity system allows mBolden to use different color combinations which provides flexibility alongside other partners, in new environments and to keep the the logo current and dynamic.

Ultimately the brand system for mBolden is helping women and businesses envision the future, think big and take on new opportunities successfully.
