To boldly go: businesses that understand IT's power to disrupt can change industries – and secure their future

I get a great sense of satisfaction taking customers through just what’s possible and watching them assimilate that into their own way of doing things. The recent pace of technological change has meant that IT now has the power to transform, not just accelerate, business.

Helping organisations understand that transformative power, and the connectivity to access and distribute it, is a vital function of IT leadership. Armed with the knowledge, organisations can achieve truly remarkable things.

Making the connection

Developments in cloud computing and applications in general have meant that standing up an entirely new enterprise technology stack has never been easier. But to avoid that new capability from becoming siloed, organisations need to understand the value and power of the right connectivity. There are many options to take you to the power of the cloud platforms your organisation needs, whether it’s Dedicated Cloud Access (DCA), SD WAN Multi-Cloud, or IP Access with Cloud Prioritisation. This puts your applications and workloads where they can have the greatest impact.

A nudge in the right direction

There’s such myriad possibilities, in frameworks, applications, and platforms. Once we’ve had that initial conversation and I hear those pointed questions come back that I know they have a vision. As they see the power of the combined solutions, connectivity, communications, and technology stacks, plugged directly into the most power cloud platforms, they ask the important questions to see what they can do next.

“In today’s business world, those organisations that capture the next wave of technology evolution are the ones that will survive.”

From then on, it’s all about listening. Understanding the context to the questions, getting more of a sense of where they’re coming from, we can help realise the transformative effects of the right technology combined with the right connectivity to the right services.

Spreading power

An important part of that journey is access and distribution. Helping customers understand the benefits and advantages of every person in the organisation being able to access the right resources securely and appropriately, wherever they are, can be just as empowering as delivering the technologies in the first place.

For customers too, the access for engagement is critical. Analyst McKinsey has found that in certain regions, organisations are now three times more likely to say that at least 80 per cent of their customer interactions are digital in nature, than before the pandemic. Making sure that organisations are equipped to receive, respond and fulfil customer engagement is critical. Being customer-centric is about making sure you can engage with anyone, anywhere, any time.

Equality of access

And distribution can go beyond the organisation too. With the future in mind, working outside the business ecosystem to provide an education for the next generations can be a powerful effect.

Ensuring that young students, from all backgrounds and geographies, have early access to technology so that they too can understand its transformative effects will make them lifelong advocates. The Colt Connected Classroom, in partnership with social enterprise Night Zookeeper, is just one such initiative, ensuring equality of opportunity by giving direct access to technology. I’ve seen up close what it means to have this kind of access, and how it can propel young minds beyond what they thought possible for themselves.

A partner’s duty

No organisation can be told what it must transform into.

Our best duty as a technology partner is to guide them to the point of informed decision making for themselves. We work hand in hand with CIOs and IT leaders to have those conversations and develop those visions.

And once that spark is lit, with a defined vision, we can help to ensure that vision is delivered with the best connectivity, communications, and cloud technology available.

Are you ready to ask what you can do?
