Bold People Change The World

Nigeria was not built on courageous but on personal and sectional interest. That is why we remain where we are. Courageous people build their nation to be great. Its really surprises me when I hear people talk about making Nigeria great yet they are not courageous enough to challenge what is existing.

Those who are courageous enough and bold act on what they believe are termed, crazy people. But those are the people who make things happen. Harry S. Truman said, “America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.”

You have to be courageous to think. When you think things happen. You need to ask the thinking and mindset behind every single act of creation. I always wonder what the people who came up with the computer and were really thinking? How did they know that from the sand you can get silicon from which you can make diode and transistor?

They must have been very courageous working on what they believe even though they were never sure of what they will come out with. Fear will not allow us to work on anything we are not sure of the outcome. We have seashores and rivers that have not been explored. We have mountains that have not been probed. We have forests that have not been searched. We have histories and cultures that we haven’t investigated. Fear has imprisoned our destinies and that of our nation.

We prefer to do things that will bring us instant gratification than work on something that will take years to produce. We quickly lose focus when its taking longer. We tell ourselves that it's taking long because God is in not involved. What an excuse!

It is said that the difference between a white man and a black man is courage. When a black man comes to a mountain, he believes God is on the mountain and should be feared and worshipped. So he sets up a worship center to the god of the mountain. When he hears the thunder and sees the lightning, out of fear he worships them as a god of thunder and lightning. Whatever he fears, he turns into a god to be worshipped.

But when the white man comes to the same mountain, he inquires what is on the mountain. So he finds a way to climb the mountain while documenting his findings. Then he asks what is in the mountain. So he breaks the mountain to find out. Finally, he asks, how can what is in the mountain be used to help humanity. So he turns what he finds into technology or product that will help humanity.

It takes courage to invest in a business and keep investing in it because you believe in it even when it seems it's not working and everyone thinks you are wasting your time. Courageous people don’t ever run away from what they believe no matter how tough it gets.

There is no courage in religion. You are just like everybody. You don’t even have the courage to think your own thoughts. You have to think like everyone and conform to a standard. It takes courage to be yourself and in these days of social media addiction, people lack that courage.

What Courageous People Who Change Nations

They challenge the status quo. They don’t believe in leaving things as they are. They are always fighting what is usual. That way they are the ones who push us into a new world. Status quo comes in the form of rules and what is normal for people. If you stick to the normal, you will never do anything different from what others are doing. You will have to first break the rules that make things normal in order to live abnormal life.

They zig while others zag. They are non-conformist. They don’t follow the crowd. They beat their own path to find what no one is finding. If you do what everyone is doing you will end up with what everyone is seeing. It takes courage to go in a different way from what many other people are going. When everyone is consuming what is available, they are busy creating what people will consume.

They Do Things Differently. They dare to think differently from everyone. People who do things differently do so because they think what others are not thinking. Everyone expects you to think like them. You are actually boxed in by the mass media to think like everyone and do same things. If you are not courageous, you will give in.

They do new things. While everyone is happy with things as they are, the courageous are not. They follow their gut to create new things and make life better for people. It takes courage to look at what already exists and see its shortcomings and they create something else that is better than the first. It took courage for Henry Ford to come up with the car when all that people need was a faster horse. It took courage for Steve Jobs to come up with the iPhone when all people needed was a faster blackberry.

They create their reality. While everyone lives in the reality that others have created, the courageous make the choice to live in the reality of their own making. They don’t live by other people’s expectation or in the world others have created. If you bring them into your world, they will challenge it and create a different world for themselves. They create their own business within the organization where they work.

If you want to make a difference in life for yourself and people, then you need to be bold. No one has ever achieved greatness as a result of fear and cowardice. No nation has ever developed when its people are afraid to take a bet on themselves and venture into the unknown and explore the unknown. You can if you are courageous.
