Boiler Deposits

Boiler Deposits:

Mainly there are two types of deposits that occur at boiler surfaces.?

1: Salts that crystallized over the boiler surface.

2: Sludge deposits on boiler surface.

In salt deposit mainly calcium, magnesium, silica, phoshate and iron deposit occurs. One of the main method to reduce both type of deposits is ultrapure pre-treatment of water. But the issue with pre-treatment is high initial cost and even with the low range of hardness less than 2 ppm, deposits occur in boiler. So the most effective way to treat boiler deposit is internal boiler treatment program. Chemical Treatment of boilers serves the pupose of internal treatment and their proper monitoring helps to optimize low boiler deposits. Once the deposition started, rate of salt deposition will increase because of contact time increase and similar ion base surface availability.

Sludge is the accumulation of solids in boiler, if the suspended solid pre-treatment is not proper then suspended particles inter into boiler and get concentrated. those concentrated particles make sludge and at high temperature they baked over the boiler surface and may cause similiar issues as scale deposits does.?

Due to deposition of particles ar boiler surface, heat transfer and circulation rates?of boiler water is disturbed and will cause sudden shutdown and losses.
