FAA Proposes Expanded Inspections for Boeing 767 Pilot Seats

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed an expansion of the existing Airworthiness Directive (AD) concerning pilot seat movement in Boeing 767 aircraft. The new rule requires additional checks on seat part numbers and serials that were previously omitted, aimed at preventing unintentional seat movement that could obstruct flight controls during critical phases such as takeoff and landing. This proposal follows similar directives issued for Boeing 787 Dreamliners, addressing concerns raised after seat-related incidents, including a 2024 occurrence with a LATAM Dreamliner. SARPcheck global aviation safety audit: A wet lease, codeshare, ACMI Booster

SARPcheck is a new global aviation safety audit that assesses airline compliance with select ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) across defined ICAO Annexes. The primary aim of this audit is to enhance global flight safety while providing an affordable and accessible tool to facilitate ACMI, wet lease, and codeshare operations. The ICAO Annexes and SARPs that SARPcheck focuses on are specifically those outlined by regulatory and industry standards, including FAA requirements for overseeing foreign air carriers and the TCO approval elements of EASA.

SARPcheck is governed by a London-based not-for-profit organization, the Safety Audit Review Partnership (SARP Ltd.), which accredits Safety Quality Organizations (SQOs) such as AEROTHRIVE to conduct these audits globally. Detailed information about the program, including the SARPcheck Program Manual (SCPM), informative brochures, and the latest updates, is available on our website at https://aerothrive.com/audits/sarpcheck-audits/ . For further inquiries or personal assistance, please feel free to send me a message. I'm always happy to help! Lufthansa City Airlines is the global launch customer of SARPcheck.

I believe that every aircraft from airplanes to helicopters should have an all inclusive yearly inspection. This should be in addition to the inspection and test after every repare. I have been very surprised to learn the repair of aircraft or lack of repair or in some cases using all parts that might appear ok at the naked eye but not fully evaluated. We have seen this dilema with the military, repairing planes and helicopters with used parts, putting our soldiers’ lives with very little thought about them. We also see that practice globally in comercial airlines, putting everyone at risk, those in the aircraft and those on the ground. So, YES, a changes in global inspection procedures is in order in a consistant matter, and with more thought on those that will be affected the most passengers in commercial flights and soldiers in the military forces.
