Boeing 727 Hits ILS Facility on Departure

??Colombian aviation authorities are investigating a serious incident involving an Aerosucre Boeing 727-200 freighter that struck part of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) array during takeoff from Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport on November 10th.

??The aircraft, registered as HK-5216, was departing from runway 14L when it collided with a localizer antenna. Despite the impact, the plane managed to become airborne and continued its flight for approximately one hour and twenty minutes before returning to Bogotá and landing safely on runway 14R.

??While the extent of the damage to the ILS and its potential impact on airport operations are obvious, the aircraft itself sustained significant damage to its landing gear and left wing.
