At the start of session with a client, I said, "Let's commence?with a short meditation" - and?asked her to bring her attention to?the soles of her?feet. She looked at me inquisitively, and then looked down at her feet, as though checking to ensure?they were actually there!
"You take your body with you everywhere you go" says Jon Kabat-Zinn.
This week, we pay attention to the body. We use?the body scan?practice,?to?connect?us with the?life-force?bursting out of every cell of our?body (Rumi).
What does that give you?
Well, amongst other things, did you know that?as a practice,?focusing?on a part?of your?body, specifically, and intentionally, helps?resolve procrastination, a symptom typical in the workplace when?dealing with tasks?
Scanning the body in a mindful way?rejuvinates the parasympathetic nervous system, and activates the cells?that assists you get out of 'slumber mode'?with a freshness and desire to move toward action, regardless of lingering fear. This is because the body scan links you with your own life-force...
So, in?the body scan meditation today, we pay due regard to the body, it parts, and the feeling and?sensations we feel in those parts. We then?notice the difference - and take action?from there.
