When we get stuck mentally, we can use our physical bodies to get ourselves unstuck.?
Have you ever noticed that when you are feeling small inside, your body gets small with you? We literally shrink, pull our bodies into ourselves, or curl up in a ball. When I feel defeated, I’ll find myself lying flat on my back. My intimidated body position is to have my arms crossed in front of my chest, as if to hide my heart.
While our bodies often reflect our feelings, our bodies can also be used to affect our feelings.?
Just as it is hard to smile and feel angry at the same time, it is difficult to feel powerless while standing upon a table. Or, try feeling sad while jumping up and down.
The geography, or position, of our body is a resource for creating an internal paradigm shift. The next time you need a perspective change, make a move to literally change the position and perspective of your body. Then watch the energy that follows.
