The Body Doesn’t Lie: Listen Before It Stops You

To you - the professional, ambitious woman who wants it all and does it all.

I hear you.

So, this is for you.

You have a thriving career, children who rely on you, aging parents who need your support, and a never-ending to-do list that somehow seems to grow overnight (I know - that is just the beginning because there is way more!)

You’re the one everyone counts on, the problem solver, the dependable friend, the powerhouse in the office. I call her the "Go to Girl".

You don’t stop.

Ever.

But here’s the truth no one wants to hear: your body doesn’t lie.

I know because I’ve been there. I lived that relentless pace until one day, my body made the choice for me. It stopped me in my tracks. And just like that—burnout.

Suddenly, the life I was racing through felt like it was slipping away from me. I couldn’t keep up with the tempo I once mastered. Simple tasks felt monumental, and the energy I took for granted was gone. It wasn’t just physical exhaustion—it was mental, emotional, and spiritual depletion. Life wasn’t something I was living anymore; it was something happening around me.

Listen to your body.

Burnout doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a slow burn, that takes months and years to build. Sadly it's often disguised as “just being busy.” The headaches, the sleepless nights, the ever-present anxiety, these are not badges of honour and nor are they normal. They are red flags. Your body whispers before it screams. Are you listening?

Start noticing the signs:

  • Persistent fatigue: Feeling tired even after a full night’s sleep.
  • Irritability: Snapping at loved ones or colleagues over small things.
  • Brain fog: Struggling to focus or remember simple details.
  • Loss of joy: The hobbies and activities you once loved now feel like chores.

"You’re the one everyone counts on."

What can you do right now?

  1. Pause and check-in: Take a few moments each day to ask yourself; how am I really feeling?
  2. Prioritise rest: Sleep isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. Create a bedtime routine that signals to your body it's time to unwind.
  3. Set boundaries: Saying “no” is a complete sentence. Protect your time and energy like the valuable resources they are.
  4. Seek support: You don’t have to do it all alone. Lean on your circle, delegate at work, and if needed, seek guidance from a coach or therapist.

The reality is, that you can’t pour from an empty cup - (yes as cheesy as it sounds - this is true). Your drive and ambition are strengths, but they shouldn’t come at the expense of your well-being.

If this is you - The Woman that doesn’t stop. Ever.

We need to talk.

Your body will always tell you the truth. My question to you is; are you listening?
