Boatbuilding News 17.06.22 Feat ExoTechnologies, Ultimate Boats, Williams Jet Tenders and Monaco Yacht Show

?? This week’s boatbuilding news! ???

???ExoTechnologies says its first commercial vessel is being delivered to Police Scotland, built from its fully recyclable Danu composite material technology.

The boat is the first of a new range being built at Ultimate Boats, the Glasgow boatyard owned by ExoTechnologies.?

Police Scotland’s boat will be demonstrated at Seawork exhibition in Southampton next week.

According to the manufacturer, Danu is fully recyclable and can replace fibreglass and carbon fibre, ‘preventing millions of tonnes and boats being dumped into landfill each year’.

Ultimate Boats full high-performance workboat range includes a 13m crew transfer vessel, 11.5m multi-mission workboat and 7.5m support workboat, which the builder says have already attracted significant interest from commercial operators and military.

ExoTechnologies says it is seeking to raise capital to scale its recyclable Danu composite material technology worldwide.

The company says it plans to create 300 jobs at the yard within five years.

“We are proud that this pioneering and internationally significant project is being delivered in Scotland, by our talented Clyde-based workforce, in partnership with Police Scotland. To witness the world’s first ever fully recyclable boat, in action, made from our fully recyclable Danu composite material technology is incredibly rewarding after years of research and development. Police Scotland’s boat marks a significant breakthrough in transforming boatbuilding, as our fully recyclable Danu composite material technology of superior mechanical strength has replaced fibreglass entirely, currently the most common form of boatbuilding substance."

??Williams Jet Tenders has invested more than £450K in a new research and development space.

It follows on from the company’s announcement in 2021 that it had invested more than £1m in a new state-of-the-art in-house moulding facility and fully equipped boat production unit.

“Our new research and development space is an excellent investment and will open up even more opportunities for the development of new market-leading products and innovations. We’re proud of what we are achieving as a company in the continued support of our customers.”

said Dan Bloice-Smith, development director at Williams Jet Tenders.

The new 450m2 research and development space houses a new test tank which is capable of water testing tenders up to 7 metres in length which will provide Williams with quality control across its range.

The facility also features new lifting equipment alongside dedicated research and development metal and composite areas and three individual research and development build bays, enabling Williams to run multiple projects concurrently.

?? Monaco Yacht Show have shared a press release highlighting their intention to attract what they call ‘the pleasure-seeking generation’ via the social media app TikTok.

Through this platform, they aim to promote ‘the superyacht life’ via moral values such as family, friendship, self-respect, elegant living, and respect for the environment. This news comes after the organisers of the show announced the ‘Seducation programme’. This will be a three-year plan of action designed to attract a new generation of yachting clients.

“The Monaco Yacht Show made its grand return to the international event scene in 2021, sporting a 3-year development programme with a clearly-stated goal: to promote superyachting among a new generation of clients”

The General Manager of Monaco Yacht Show, Ga?lle Tallarida, said,

Monaco Yacht Show have also created a new sustainability hub where companies can showcase innovative eco-friendly solutions. It will also act as a platform for budding start-ups working on sustainable alternatives that fit in with the yachting world.?

The show’s themed exhibition areas have been redistributed to improve efficiency, making it easier for ticket holders to meet experts in their respective fields and to discover the range of products and services required to successfully complete their yachting project. The organisers are therefore revamping the Dockside Area, the Sailing Yacht Area and the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub.
