Boatbuilding News 06.05.22 Feat Dromeas Yachts, Iguana Yachts, iSpace2o and 3M.

?? This week’s boatbuilding news! ???

????? Turkish boatbuilder Dromeas Yachts has opened a UK head office in MDL’s Hamble Point Marina, Southampton.

The company, which produces high-performance offshore powerboats, says the growth means it will be able to support its worldwide dealer network more efficiently.

The additional 7,000sqm GRP facility takes the boatbuilder’s total production capacity to 12,000sqm. Dromeas says the increase in production capacity will allow its latest vessels, the D33 WA and D33 SUV, to move to full production later this year.?

?? Iguana Yachts, the French builder of amphibious sportsboats, has launched its latest model – the 9.2m Iguana Sport.

Two models are currently in build at Iguana’s shipyard in Caen, northwest France, following three years of research and development.

The Sport is a practical boat made for multiple activities such as cruising, watersports, family trips and sunbathing. Inspired by the Iguana Original – the first model ever designed by Iguana Yachts – it has an open centre console suitable for more people and activities, and a classic deck. It can accommodate up to 12 passengers.

Like the Original, the Sport has a centre console but boasts a wider 3.12m beam for a more enjoyable driving experience and it is now possible to opt for two navigation screens. The boat has plenty of onboard space, ideal for carrying watersports, snorkelling or fishing equipment.

The Iguana Sport is also the fastest model in the range. With a strong, reinforced hull, it can easily reach speeds of up to 56kt with two 450hp Mercury ouboards.

The boat is also customisable with many options, from integrated hard-tops to custom painted engines and underwater LEDs.?

???? Italian start-up iSpace2o has commenced production of the first hull of its DeepSeaker DS1 electric submersible hydrofoil vehicle, which has room for a pilot and up to three passengers.?

It’s reported that the first ten units of the DeepSeaker DS1 have already been commissioned by one of the largest international navigation groups, which will use them as entertainment for its cruise ships’ passengers.

According to the team behind the DeepSeaker DS1, the submersible hydrofoil will be capable of over 30 knots on the water, but also of diving up to 50 metres to allow passengers to enjoy the wonders of the sea depths.

As well as being used as a superyacht toy, the new submarine technology of the DeepSeaker DS1 is designed to provide safe maritime transport to users both in the field of marine tourism above and below the surface and for public utilities such as rescue at sea and scientific research.

?? 3M Marine Manufacturing Solutions have announced they have re-energised their customer strategy focus on saving process time, improving productivity, safety and also providing shop floor training to create tailored customer standard operating processes.?

They have reported that in one of their major Marine customer’s they demonstrated significant process time saving, improving dust extraction by up to 99% and delivered total cost savings.?
