???? Italian boatbuilder Azimut has revealed its new flagship – the Grande 44M.

The yacht, which is the new fleet flagship, has a concept and exterior styling by Alberto Mancini and interiors by m2atelier, working with the shipyard for the first time. It was announced during the 2024 Palm Beach International Boat Show that took place in March in Florida.

Five units have been sold in advance of the launch.

As the largest model ever built by the shipyard, the Grande 44M is also the flagship of the shipyard’s family of Low Emission Yachts, models that are said to offer a reduction of between 20 and 30 per cent in emissions compared to more traditional naval architectures of the same size.

“The Grande 44M is proof that true innovation anticipates what owners really desire. This is confirmed by the five units sold even before the official presentation of the project, all bought by Azimut owners who understand the shipyard’s values and wish to grow with us.”

says Marco Valle, Azimut- Benetti?Group CEO.

The helm station has been moved to the fourth deck, freeing up the upper deck so that it can be transformed into an owner’s deck, featuring the master suite and a private terrace. Aft, Grande 44M replaces the mezzanine deck with a Sea View Terrace, as seen on the Grande Trideck. An immersive ‘transparent’ pool generates reflections from the water that shimmer across the beach club.

The forward section of Grande 44M’s upper deck can be fitted out as a media room for guests or reserved for the owner, or alternatively, as a dining area with a veranda accommodating 12 people. In both cases, almost two-metre-long windows on either side provide open views outside, where a lounge area in the bow with a small firepit offers a cosy space from which to watch the sunset over the water.

The naval platform of the Grande 44M is based on a Dual Mode hull, the introduction of the Hull Vane foil technology and the Mild Hybrid Plus Zero Emission Hotel Mode system.

The Dual Mode hull, developed in partnership by P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture and the Azimut R&D department, represents the union of two types of conventional hull: the bow section is typical for fast displacement boats, while the part from midships to the stern has a chine commonly found on planing hulls. This results in a hull that, Azimiut?says, allows a considerable reduction in fuel consumption and emissions at every speed range.

The foil technology is installed for the first time on an Azimut yacht thanks to the collaboration between Hull Vane, a Dutch company specialising in hydrodynamic solutions, and the Azimut-Benetti Group R&D department.

The Hull Vane carbon wing fitted to the stern of Grande 44M can suppress the stern wave and generate forward thrust, providing further reduction in overall drag as well as damping of pitch, sway, and roll in navigation. Azimut now offers six models that can be fitted with a Zero Emission Hotel Mode system, making it possible to stay at anchor for from four to eight hours with the generators off.

The Grande 44M will be presented to the public at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026.

???? Monaco-based superyacht builder Dynamiq has launched its refit and conversion operations in its facility in the Antalya Free Zone, in the south of Turkey.

Dynamiq?says its facility in Antalya, a designated low-tax zone and boatbuilding hub, can now accommodate superyachts up to 65 meters (215 feet) for bespoke refits.

The first vessel to participate in the refit programme is the 39-metre Dynamiq superyacht M/Y Jetsetter?(delivered 2016), which has already arrived at Dynamiq’s facility for a comprehensive refit.

Dynamiq?says the project will cover a range of refurbishments, from propulsion systems overhauls to interior upgrades. One of the refit’s main tasks is the maintenance of the pods and their gearboxes, a project being led by Reintjes technicians.

Antalya Free Zone is a government-protected area that benefits from a special tax regime. It hosts a cluster of high-profile shipyards from both Turkey and the Netherlands. Dynamiq says all yachts are protected throughout the refit period, and all the extra tax savings allow it to propose lower prices.

The facilities include in-house production of luxury interiors, such as stainless steel and teak. A 2,000-tonne syncrolift is also on site.

???? Full-service superyacht firm Burgess has launched into South America, after partnering with BYS International (Brazil Yacht Services), which is based in Brazil.

With an established portfolio of South American-based superyacht owners and charterers, Burgess?has a history of investment in reconnaissance visits to the region and says it is now looking to build its presence there.

BYS International was founded in 2012 by a team with more than 40 years of experience in the superyacht industry. Starting off as a local agency, BYS expanded into management, brokerage and charter and has since grown internationally. The company was first introduced to Burgess in 2014, and the two companies have collaborated since.

Managing partner of BYS International, Jo?o Raphael Kossmann, entered the industry 12 years ago after an investment in the first Latin American-based superyacht agency (later to become BYS International Yachting), of which he later became managing partner.

Kossmann led the expansion of the agency into a full-service yacht boutique, including charter, charter management and brokerage services, and established its presence on three continents.

“I am very enthusiastic about this partnership and the potential for such cooperation.Burgess and BYS first interacted in 2014, when we executed our first yacht charter agreement. This is the natural next step. The potential of bringing to our clients the vast array of services and experience of a yachting superpower like Burgess is huge. They will continue to feel at home while having all the support, experience and global reach. It is very rewarding to be here, and we definitely see positive years on the horizon.”

says Managing partner of BYS International, Jo?o Raphael Kossmann,

“The South American market has always been very important to Burgess, and therefore, we are very excited to announce this partnership. It is the natural progression for Burgess to expand into South America while ensuring we keep the local expertise of a world-renowned company on the ground. We have been working closely with BYS International for many years, and we are delighted we can now formalise this arrangement.”

says Matt Emerson, director of Americas at Burgess.
