55th Board Impulse Thoughts with Eduardo Borba?and his views and assessments of the upcoming and last 12 months
1. Which were your biggest learnings over the past 12 months?
After two years of the pandemic demanding social distancing and hyper connectivity, many people were accumulating stress and missing personal interactions. In order to keep team engaged and healthy, it was important to bring some teambuilding activities back to the agenda. Besides, everybody is paying more attention to ESG topics mainly regarding diversity and inclusion therefore linking those to company purpose is fundamental.
2. Do you think working from home is still an important offer to retain or attract talents?
I believe yes. Actually, working from anywhere broke some barriers to access different talent pools from other regions for specific topics as well as for better cost.
On the other hand, a subject-matter expert can offer services to companies from any place in the globe which is a truly globalization offering of expertise.
3. What are your observations on executives over the last 12 months, did they change their habits and attitudes?
Most of my peers were resuming face-to-face meetings to re-establish personal networking, which was “sleeping” during pandemic. One of the greatest assets an executive hold is the net of contacts either customers, vendors or peers. Exchanging experiences enriches understanding and accelerate decision making process.

For me there is a clear transition from defensive to offensive mode.
4. What do you expect from 2023?
Many regions of the globe are facing challenges either for inflation or impact from the war. More specifically in my country the result from the last elections may bring uncertainty for investors to expand business in the region. This scenario will demand business resilience as well as creativity and boldness to focus on business expansion and growth.?

Dear Eduardo Gomes, MBA, CCA IBGC, in deed networking, creativity and practiced resilience are key factors in challenging times. I even regard a balanced networking as the mail topic and recommend more working time used to network and share.
