Board Game Reviews
My board game experience was limited to #monopoly, #chess, and #backgammon until two months ago. So here's a list of new board games I've played recently and my quick notes:
1. Secret Hitler
Six of us played #SecretHitler in my weekend coding jam group. I enjoyed continuous manipulation attempts and anti-patterns in other players. Identifying how people would try to manipulate in the same way was fun. I'm rating it 7/10.
2. For Sale
We've played #ForSale with six people, and I enjoyed the compactness of the game. It's buying and selling real estate cards to make the top dollar. Fast-paced and fun, I'd recommend playing. I'm rating it 5/10.
3. Splendor
We've played #Splendor with four guys from my weekend coding jam group, and it was fun. It is simple, fast-paced, and easy to learn as you try to collect as many gem cards as possible. The game accelerates real quick. I'm rating it 6/10.
4. Citadels
#Citadels was a super-fun game, we played it with six people, and it got even better with expansion packs. There are manipulation and poker-like dynamics in this game. The idea is to earn as many victory points as possible. My rating is 8/10.
5. San Juan
We've played #SanJuan with three people. This game has a certain amount of learning curve for memorizing card functions, but it gets better and better over time. I'm rating it 8/10.
6. Everdell
We've played #Everdell with three people. I fell in love with the artwork and dynamics of this game. Everdell has a greater learning curve as there are many different resources. It was extremely fun, though. I'm rating it 9/10.
Thanks for reading this long post. I will keep updating this post as I experience new board games. Please feel free to suggest your favorite board games so I can give them a try and write my reviews here!
