BMW Group experiencing all-time high sales
BMW Group has reported record sales figures in June, contributing to an equally successful first half-year of 2017.
A total of 232,620 vehicles have left BMW Group dealerships over the course of the month. This is a 2.1 per cent increase year-on-year for the group, composed of the BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce marques.
Over the first half-year BMW (1,038,030 sales, up 5.2 per cent) and Mini (181,214 sales, up 3.6 per cent) have both seen a significant increase in global sales. However, Rolls-Royce has experienced a drop of 6.5 per cent thanks to the Phantom’s absence from the market until later this year.
The group now has nine electrified models in its line-up, including the new MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4. A total of 42,573 BMW i, BMW iPerformance and MINI Electric vehicles have been delivered to customers over the course of the first half-year, marking an increase of 79.8 per cent.
BMW Motorrad, the company’s motorcycle division, has also enjoyed increased sales over the course of 2017’s first six months. 88,389 two-wheeled BMWs have been sold so far this year – a 9.5 per cent increase – with 17,260 departing dealerships in June.
In total, BMW Group sold 1,220,819 vehicles in the first half-year, a five per cent increase over 2016.
Ian Robertson, member of the BMW AG board of management, said: “June rounds off our best-ever first half-year and the BMW Group remains the world’s leading premium car company. We’ve already sold more than a million BMW vehicles this year, which is a new first-half-year record.”
