BMW is going to introduce the petrol variants of its all vehicles

BMW the Germany luxury car manufacturer has decided to launch the petrol variants of its all vehicles. Frank Schloeder, the President of BMW Group India said that company will soon launch an additional engine line. This will be introduced in Chennai at the Force Motor’s plant where all the engines of the company are assembled. This luxury car manufacturer has been hit hard by the ban of diesel engines with the capacity of two liters or more in Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region). Although the ban had been subsequently lifted by the Apex court, the intermittent period had seen the sales of vehicle plummeting with the SUV manufacturers being worst hit. Schloeder in an interview said that the company is not directly hit by the vehicle ban, but there was uncertainty regarding it in the mind of customers.

Petrol engine enquiries had increased and thus clients became uncertain about investing in the diesel engines as they had no idea about their resale value. The first petrol variant of BMW will be the new BMW 3 series Gran Turismo and much more variants will be introduced in a phased manner. The company is now trying to increase the luxury car market in India with the flexible engine assembly lines. At present, BMW as the luxury cars represents one percent of the vehicles being sold in India. The company is now planning to make the luxury cars ownership an affordable experience. This would include finance, servicing, and various other options. According to the company, there exists a psychological barrier in the buyer's mind about luxury cars and that has to be removed. On asking about the launch of hybrid vehicles in the country, Schloeder said that the Indian government should provide incentives for the introduction of these types of vehicles. On the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST), the company suggested that the Indian government should not penalize the luxury vehicles. Schloeder on Wednesday revealed the latest BMW 3 series Gran Turismo in India.
