BMW driver miraculously escapes death after colliding with a heavy commercial vehicle

The driver of a light motor vehicle miraculously survived a motor vehicle accident but sustained serious injuries after colliding with a heavy goods truck at the corners of Nelson Mandela and Jac van Rhyn roads in Bloemfontein during the early hours of Sunday morning, 1 November 2020. The driver of the blue BMW was lucky to be alive after he crashed into the truck at high speed, resulting in his car mangled beyond recognition. Hydraulic extrication tools had to be used to free him from the wreckage before he was treated by advanced life support (ALS) paramedics on scene. He was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further care. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has opened an investigation into the cause of the accident.
