Blue Star Families and putting my money where my mouth is to support military families

Service members, active and veteran, and their families, all help protect our country.

They sacrifice a lot to protect us all, and we all need to do more to support them.

Blue Star Families does a great job to this effect. They’re the real deal.

For example, military families get moved around a lot, around 600,000 times a year.

Each time, they need to find housing, often more expensive and hard to find.

They need help with schools, sometimes food, and often connecting with other families with shared experiences.

Blue Star Families has built a network of Chapters and Outposts, of military families and neighbors who can help new families settle in much faster.

It's like the Internet community helped me settle into San Francisco 30 years ago, which pointed me toward creating craigslist.

I take this personally. It’s the right thing to do, and it protects our country.

I'm putting my money where my mouth is. Last week I pledged another $100M contribution for military families and vets. This builds on top of the $100M I’ve given to organizations supporting veterans since 2023.

My new pledge includes $25M for Bob Woodruff Foundation, which runs the GotYour6 network for vets and their families. We announced that last week.

Last night I joined Blue Star Families to grant $25M dollars to their work supporting military families. They’ll know what to do with it.
