Blue Globe Innovation and AfriLabs partner as entrant liaisons for Afri-Plastics Challenge

Blue Globe Innovation and AfriLabs are excited to announce their partnership as entrant liaisons for the Afri-Plastics Challenge, an innovation programme focused on tackling the issue of marine plastics in Sub-Saharan Africa. With support from Nesta Challenges and the Government of Canada, Blue Globe and AfriLabs are part of an extensive collaboration to grow and develop this programme seeking new and innovative solutions addressing the “recycling gap” present in the Global South.

Divided into three strands, the challenge seeks to tackle the growing issue of ocean plastic pollution and creating African-centric solutions to this problem. As entrant liaisons, Blue Globe and AfriLabs are building on their existing relationship to identify SMEs dedicated to the challenge’s goals, create targeted outreach efforts especially to women and young people, and develop strategies to target both English and Francophone markets.?

Strand 1 of the challenge, Scaling: Accelerating Growth, is open to entries until 15 September 2021 with prizes including ￡10,000 to ￡1,000,000 in funding and business support including one-to-one mentoring, partnerships, and collaboration opportunities.?

Blue Globe and AfriLabs believe innovation is key to helping sub-Saharan Africa recover from COVID-19 and adapt to a changing environment - and we look forward to being a part of this journey with entrants together.?
