BLUE BIRD
I know you blue bird
I see you when you don't see yourself
I have learned to read your mind
To tell your story
To express your pain
I reach beyond your smile
I see them blue bird, I see them
They fancy your feathers
And sing your praises
You are perfect to them
They love how you sing into the night
How you fly gracefully into the sky
I know you blue bird
How you bury the blackbird within
How you stop the tear and hide the scars
How your ululations is drowned in their jubilations
You are caged in glory
Ensnared in false decorum
But you will be free blue bird
You will be free to wash off your blue paint
And be the blackbird that you truly are
Together we shall fly to the mountains
And come back to hunt the chicks
No more shall you act the blue bird
Onyendi Chibueze I.
