The Blossom Bulletin - December

Issue #3

"Rest your garden; let it regenerate. Rest yourself; you deserve regeneration too. Believe in abundance and rest in the cycles that give structure to our resilience."

—Jess Housty (’Cúagilákv)

Greetings Friends!

It has been a wet start to the month but snow is on the way!

This is a copy of my most recent issue of my monthly newsletter where I share all things wonderful about plants and gardens.

If you wish to subscribe - you can do so anytime by opting-in here: https://my-landscape-artist.ck.page/2233ba0b24

What I've Learned Recently

  • Have you ever heard of "Oca"? Apparently, it is the tuber of Oxalis tuberosa (wood sorrel) and it is edible! Also called the New Zealand Yam - it is a popular alternative to potatoes and I am TOTALLY going to try to grow these in my garden next year!

  • There is something in existence called "Brusselberry Sprouts" and I have GOT to try and grow these too! Reddish-purple in colour and they are said to have a sweeter, milder taste. I personally LOVE brussel sprouts so count me in!

What to do in Your Garden this Month

Important Garden and/or Plant-related News

  • Winter Workshops at Heemans will end on December 17th and are currently over 60% sold out. Secure your spot for the one(s) you want HERE before they're gone!
  • Tickets for the Landscape Ontario Congress Trade Show and Conference are now available! Coming to Toronto in January 2024. I'm not speaking at this one...but I will one day!

What's New & Exciting with Me?

  • The "Employers of Choice" training I was accepted into is going well and I am certainly learning LOTS about what it means to be an employee's "Ideal Employer Avatar".
  • I have passed the first round of applications for a mentorship opportunity with SayYES Mentoring out of Cape Town, South Africa. Co-Founded by the incredible Gillian Anderson, this is an organization I am excited to get involved with.
  • The pre-sale of my Garden Design Course did not have enough participants enroll in order to hold the course. I will re-launch the opportunity in the New Year.
  • I have been invited by the SteelWheel Brewery in Brantford, Ontario to host a Spring Floral Centerpiece Workshop on March 29th, 2024. Get your tickets before they're gone!
