THE BLOOD ON THE DOORPOST: A SIGN OF GOD'S LOVE AND PROTECTION.

FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE:

? Exodus 12:13a ?

"When I see the blood, I will pass over you."

HOLY SPIRIT, HAVE YOUR WAY.

In Exodus 12, we find the story of the Israelites' divinely orchestrated escape from slavery in Egypt.

Imagine the state of mind of the Israelites on the night of the Passover.

The Angel of death loomed, threatening to strike down every firstborn son. Yet, amidst the panic, God offered a beacon of hope: The blood on the doorpost (Exodus 12:13). It wasn't just any blood; it symbolized the sacrifice of a lamb, a foreshadowing of Christ's ultimate sacrifice on the cross.

That blood wasn't just a deterrent; it was a sign of God's love for His people. He saw their suffering and intervened. This powerful image reminds us that we too are covered by The Blood of Christ, protected from the ultimate consequence of sin, death and destruction.

Just as the blood on the doorposts served as a visible sign of protection for the Israelites, our faith in Jesus Christ marks us as His own.

This doesn't mean we'll be immune to life's challenges. But it assures us that God's love goes before us, paving the way and offering protection.

This ssurance from God, to love and protect us, does not nullify our responsibility to act. We have a part to play. The Israelites, even under God's protection, had a part to play.

They had to prepare the lamb, mark their doorposts, and be ready for their journey out of Egypt. This was also a significance of their faith and trust in God's plan.

Our faith in God, should motivate us to action. We are called to live holy lives, to spread God's Word, and to share the love that has been so freely given to us. We must do our part. Amen.
