Blood-Aware Technology Is Changing The Game

Blood-Aware Technology Is Changing The Game

How often do you get your cholesterol levels checked? Every five years or so, right? That's what the American Heart Association recommends, but many people don't take their advice—and that's one of the reasons they say heart disease is still America's #1 killer. In fact, most Americans who die from heart disease have never had their cholesterol checked in the first place! But what if there was a way to check your cholesterol levels without having to poke holes in your arm and extract blood samples?

Your health should always be your top priority, but we also know that taking care of your health can be overwhelming. We're excited to introduce the Bloods.ai blood-aware technology, providing you with simple, non-invasive checkups at your nearest grocery store, gyms, pharmacies, schools etc. that will help you stay on top of your cholesterol levels and keep them in the healthy range.

What are HDL & LDL?

The most common types of cholesterol in our bodies are HDL and LDL. Both HDL and LDL come from saturated fats, although saturated fat tends to raise LDL levels while raising HDL levels. All other fats in our diet raise both HDL and LDL levels. The ratio between total cholesterol (LDL + HDL) and HDL is crucial for determining the risk of heart disease. This number is called your Total/HDL Cholesterol Ratio, or Total/HDL.

Sounds complicated? It's not. Simply put, a lower number is better than a higher one. For example, if your Total/HDL ratio is 4, you have a total cholesterol level of 200 and an HDL level of 100 for a ratio of 4:1. If your Total/HDL ratio is 2, you have a total cholesterol level of 200 and an HDL level of 100 for a ratio of 2:1. In both cases, those are good numbers.

Why Is Checking Cholesterol Important

You've probably heard you should be on a low-cholesterol diet. Cholesterol doesn't dissolve in blood and can build up in blood vessels, causing them to narrow, leading to heart disease or stroke. But there are two types of cholesterol: LDL (bad) and HDL (good). The goal is to keep your LDL cholesterol levels down while raising your HDL levels. If you have high LDL levels, it means that plaque is building up inside your arteries—and there are steps you can take to lower it naturally with diet and exercise or by visiting a doctor if need be.

How Do I Check My Levels?

Traditionally, all you need is a finger prick, and in hours, you'll have your cholesterol levels.
