Blogs or LinkedIn Articles: Here's How We're Creating More Conversations

First up... If you're currently creating blogs (or articles) on your website, then that's awesome - keep going - search engines love great content.

But... What about LinkedIn?

I'm actually quite baffled by the number of people who are unfamiliar with LinkedIn Articles.

So, why would you consider publishing a LinkedIn article?

This is a question that I get asked a lot. Typically, it goes something along the lines of...

"...But, John, I already have a website with a blog on it... Wouldn't I be better off driving content there instead?..."

It's a great question. One with many pros and cons - that I'm not going to go into right now, in this article. Instead, here's...

3 Reasons Why You Should Consider LinkedIn Articles.

  1. LinkedIn wants to keep you, their user-base on platform. The more time users spend on LinkedIn, the more value the platform has, thus, LinkedIn can then also charge more for their advertising, talent and sales solutions. Personally, I love it - GREAT BUSINESS MODEL!
  2. Increase social engagement with your connections. Let me explain. When someone (a 1st level connection or other), likes, comments, shares a LinkedIn article - you know about it. Which means you can reply, thank them, and most importantly... START A CONVERSATION.
  3. Grow your personal (and corporate) brand equity. It's never been easier to increase your reach, share an opinion and add value to your audience. All this helps develop and grow your brand - I talk more about branding here.

Hopefully, by now, you're starting to realise the benefits a LinkedIn Article can provide. And if you need a little more convincing, I put together this quick video, which shares with you:

How We're Driving Conversations With LinkedIn Articles

As discussed in the video above, we've found LinkedIn Articles to work quite well in -developing more engagement, conversations and leads for our business and our Direct MSGing customers are experiencing some great results too.

How You Can Leverage LinkedIn Articles

Reading this article is one thing, but... it's a whole different story to put these learnings into practice.

With this said, I'd like to share the following process with you. Hopefully, you'll find it as useful as we do, when it comes to creating blogs, video, articles and other engaging content for your audience.

5 Ways To Get The Most Bang For Your Buck

  1. Weekly Content Marketing Meeting. Each week, I allocate 90-minutes (Monday afternoons at 2:30pm) to work on my content plan. This time is typically used to either - Think, Research, or Create content for the weeks ahead.
  2. Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ's). My team and I are diligent in keeping a FAQ journal. We're committed to keeping abreast of the concerns, challenges, triumphs, etc. that our customers, prospects and wider industry are focused on. You can create a years worth of content by answering the FAQ's alone.
  3. Simple Content Framework. Fact is, most business owners still don't know where to start when creating an article. We've found the best results come from articles that have a combination of - Video, Text, Bullet lists, and a Call To Action
  4. Method Of Distribution. Investing the time to create content, then, not sharing it with your database, connections etc. is madness. Yet, this is what the bulk of businesses do. You MUST start sharing your content today!
  5. Follow Up - Get Conversational. We're all well aware that to succeed in business you must follow-up. The same rules apply when it comes to content marketing. In order for you to develop engagement, conversations, leads, and sales - you must follow up! Get curious. Ask for feedback. Start a conversation with your audience.
