Blogger Corner – The Healthy Tart
Jack Murray
CEO + Founder MediaHQ, Amazon bestselling author of ‘The Magic Slice,’ Storyteller.
We are kicking off a new series called Blogger Corner, to get to know some of Ireland’s beloved bloggers.
In this series you can see their favourite topics, their main audience, their collaborations and their most popular posts.
As we are all well aware, research is number one in PR and marketing, this way you can get to learn a little bit more about bloggers before partnering up or sending a pitch.
We are kickstarting this series with The Healthy Tart.
Eva Burg is the brains behind the blog that is constantly growing in line with healthy eating trends.
So Eva, why did you decide to start up a blog?
After suffering from severe Candidiasis for more than 3 years I decided that something had to change. I moved to Dublin, eliminated refined sugar from my diet, began practising yoga and started meditating for 10 minutes every morning.
It didn’t take long before I started to see a massive increase in my energy levels.
Encouraged by the quick results I decided to take it a step further and introduced a roughly 80% plant based diet into my already refined-sugar-free life.
Certainly, that doesn’t mean that I won’t have a cheat day once in a while, but I realised that all those constant sugar and carb cravings were suddenly gone.
It amazes me how much my palette has changed since, foods I used to like suddenly started to taste unbearably sweet. The changes in my general wellbeing, skin and hair became that obvious that people started asking me about what I was doing, so I decided to share my experience with everyone.
On The Healthy Tart, I would like to show how to achieve a healthy lifestyle, without missing out on scrumptious treats.
Who are your main audience?
The Healthy Tart is viewed by a rapidly growing audience who like to feed themselves and their families well.
Many are following special dietary requirements such as gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, vegetarian and vegan diets.
Audience Breakdown
- 80% are female and 20% are male
- 40% are aged between 25-34
- 25% are aged between 35-44
- 60% are living in Ireland (mostly Dublin)
- 15% in the United States
- 10% in the United Kingdom
Could you give some examples of your most popular posts?
The most popular posts on The Healthy Tart vary. List-type blog posts are quite popular such as The 15 best restaurants in Dublin to get a healthy lunch and 10 best places for vegan & gluten free desserts in Dublin .
Other popular posts are recipes using healthy ingredients such as this one for chai chia pudding and this one for blueberry oat breakfast bars.
What is your favourite part of your blog?
The dessert, breakfast and snack recipes.
Recently I started making short recipe videos which receive great interest. I’m planning to create more video content and to introduce monthly favourites where I will be recommending products I enjoy.
There’s a huge appetite (excuse the pun!) for healthy food right now, do you see this growing even more?
I definitely see it as one of the quickest growing markets and looking at health stats from the World Health Organisation it’s a change that is desperately needed. Recently, I started studying nutritional therapy to enhance my knowledge in that field.
How often do you write articles?
Usually, I post one new article a week and on rare occasion two.
Although Eva may publish once or twice a week her social media accounts are always buzzing with activity…
What is your preferred social media to use to promote your blog and why?
- Facebook – because everybody is on it and it drives the most traffic.
- Twitter – because it’s easy to find new people, search for interesting hashtags and it’s real time.
- Instagram – because it’s very visual and gets lots of engagement.
- Pinterest – because it is a steady stream of traffic and pins have a long lifespan in which they can be seen by other pinners.
Have you the recipe (we just can’t help the puns) for the perfect Healthy Tart post? Or is every blog post different?
That’s a tough one. I like to keep my post personable, relatable but also a bit educational. People like simple and easy recipes, usually, I try to keep it seasonal as well. The Dublin restaurant recommendations tend to receive the most engagement and reach.
Do you partner up with brands?
I just started monetising my blog and collaborating with brands is what I am aiming for. At the minute I’m working with Linwoods Ireland and Graze Canteen at the elbowroom.
In what way do you collaborate?
There are a number of different ways I can partner with a brand, such as:
- Sponsored Social Media Posts & Giveaways
- Limited Time Affiliate Deals
- Sponsored Customised Posts & Sponsored Reviews
- Banner Ads
Can you give some advice for brands looking to work with you?
I’m happy to explore options that fit in with my health food and general well-being theme.
