BLOG: What does it mean to lead Project Leaders? (1)

INTRO

??For more than 10 years at SEB I am heading the unit across the Baltics of Project managers. Over those years, our team engagement rate was around 90 (from 100), manager 100 (from 100), which is extremely high!

??This year I thought maybe we are doing something right. Running high complexity initiatives, experiencing staff changes at the same time our team feels highly engaged.

??This is short professional self-reflection blog. This is how I see the things and it would be wonderful if you would contribute in comments - what works for you. We can learn from each other this way.

??I also chose to use nature photos done by me as nature has so much common with growing with the Team.

?Chapter 1: Is it easier to reach high engagement employee rate when team is small?

  • ?Our team is 12, located in 3 countries - so we are small cross-country team. These are all very experienced, demanding self-driven professionals.
  • On one hand - this is amazing opportunity to know each team member and build connection.
  • On other hand - in relatively small teams, single person with strong negativity or bad mood might have significant impact on overall result.

?

My choice and preference is to be able to build personal connection with each member. To be able to feel the mood, style, identify strengths and development needs. Then you cannot lead too many. But it is not easy as experienced change leaders have very individual needs, preferences, and style.

?

What is Your choice? - Please share in comments ??
