BLOG: Secure and Sustainable: The Recycled Aluminium Advantage in CDVI's Products.
At CDVI, we greatly appreciate the versatility of aluminium, especially in the manufacturing of our magnetic architectural handles. In this article, we’ll show you why aluminium is by far the best option. From its eco-friendly properties to its lightweight nature and malleability—let’s dive deeper into why aluminium is the ideal material for secure and sustainable products.
CDVI’s Unique Aluminium Production Process
Our magnetic architectural handles are crafted using a special recycled aluminium production process that significantly lowers carbon emissions. Unlike standard recycled aluminium, our process involves the use of renewable energy sources and advanced techniques to minimise the carbon footprint. This results in a remarkably low CO2 generation of just 4KG per KG of aluminium, compared to the world average of 17KG. This unique method not only provides excellent security but also aligns with our strong commitment to sustainability.
In line with this commitment, we have released a new range of electro-magnetic locks that consume much less power than previous models during normal operation. This new series, including maglocks with 300 kg and 500 kg holding force, offers up to 40% energy savings annually. This not only benefits the end customer but also reinforces our dedication to providing cost-effective, environmentally friendly products. You can read more about the new line of maglocks in our press release here.
Aluminium is Recyclable
Aluminium is one of the most recyclable materials, requiring only a fraction of the energy needed to produce primary aluminium. Many recycled aluminium products are reused, making it both environmentally friendly and economically sustainable. In fact, 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today!
So, What is Aluminium?
Aluminium is a type of metal and the third most common element in the Earth’s crust, after oxygen and silicon. There is more aluminium than iron in the world, providing us with resources that will last for generations at the current rate of consumption.

Why We Use Aluminium for Architectural Handles
Aluminium is incredibly lightweight, weighing only one-third of steel. This presents several benefits for both installers and end customer:
Flexible Design for Enhanced Security
Aluminium is easy to shape and process at various temperatures. It can be formed into different alloys to customise its properties, offering great design flexibility. This allows us to create sleek, effective break-in protection devices that don’t compromise on strength or durability. Additionally, the malleability of aluminium is a significant advantage when it comes to security. If someone tries to force open the protection device, the aluminium will deform, making it increasingly difficult for the intruder to gain entry. This added layer of resistance provides peace of mind for the end customer, knowing their premises are well-protected.
Rust Resistance for Long-Term Durability
When aluminium meets oxygen, a protective coating forms, making it resistant to rust. This is a key benefit for the end customer, as it ensures a neat, professional-looking installation that requires minimal maintenance over time. Unlike other metals like iron or steel, aluminium won’t rust, so customers won’t need to worry about replacing the break-in protection devices due to corrosion, saving them money and effort in the long run.
Manufacturing Aluminium Using Renewable Energy
At CDVI, we take pride in our aluminium production process, which involves the use of renewable energy to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By focusing on environmentally friendly production methods rather than relying on traditional processes that use fossil fuels, we create products that support our sustainability goals and reduce environmental impact. For customers who prioritise eco-friendly options, choosing CDVI’s products means supporting a brand that actively works towards a greener future.
