Can you believe it's already February? I've certainly gotten into the swing of 2025 over at my blog, Abby Epplett, Historian. On my second roundup of the new year, I finish up my day trip to Newport, RI and begin a new adventure in Middleboro, MA. I review a pair of history books and add a couple of installments to my ongoing essay series Lord of the Rings: The Animated Musical.
Do you want to hear a brief speech about my blogging over the past few weeks? I'll be talking for two to three minutes during my Toastmasters International - Speech Invaders Club meeting this Thursday, February 3. The full event begins at 12:00 p.m. and last for an hour. Everyone is invited, whether they join in-person or virtually through Microsoft Teams. If you enjoy your time with us, you could even become a member. To learn more about the club, visit our website, check out our LinkedIn page, or message me.

Book Reviews
This middle grade book by Gail Jarrow tells the story of how food and drug safety laws developed in the United States from the 19th through mid-20th centuries. The stomach-churning descriptions might not be for all readers.
This lovely coffee table book was written by popular watercolor illustrator Bob Eckstein, although I had a few gripes about the methodology for choosing "most fascinating".
Lord of the Rings: The Animated Musical
Using this character as a reference point, I explore the clothing worn by women in England and the United States during the 1890s or Gilded Age.
I researched the history of runes, typewriters, and computer fonts while created an unofficial logo for the hypothetical animated musical. As an added bonus, I created a video featuring the animated version of the logo.
Another well executed step towards your successful project Abigail Epplett! You are making strides with the Level 4 of your pathway, and your speech was perfectly delivered on this project. Great work!
