Blog Post #2: Parkinson's Disease, The Sandwich Generation & My Push Ups 4 Parkinsons.

Now that my dad is over a year into assisted living, he has adjusted and resigned to the fact that he really does live there. Even though he no longer lives at home, my Mom's role as caregiver and advocate remains a full time gig. Having an advocate for a family member in assisted living is critical and keeping the caregiver healthy and strong is so important. I continue to remind my mom to eat well, drink lots of water and get the blood moving with some form of exercise, like yoga which she enjoys. Mom calls me often, sometimes quite flustered but she is holding it together amazingly. Parkinson's is extremely complex and there is still no cure. Dad is deteriorating but not as quickly as so many others. He gets his joy from visitors, time with me, Rachel and the kids, and looks forward to his meals. He can still go on short outings with "the group" and his attitude remains fairly positive. He is so smart and still amazingly sharp at times. I am so proud of him and my mom for their strength and perseverance. My mom's daily dedication, hard work and advocacy so clearly shows her unconditional love and how strong their 50 year marriage really is. Just like everyone, all we can do is embrace each day the best we can, and be thankful for what we have. There is always lots to be thankful for.

Speaking of exercise, Push Ups 4 Parkinsons is gaining momentum slowly. I know others that have committed to some number of Push Ups each day and have met some Parkinson's folks that tell me how their push ups are helping control their tremors. So far, I have completed over 38,000 Push Ups, doing 100 every day, and hope others will join me with some level of commitment each day. As we all know, exercise is good for our health and has numerous benefits. No one is so busy that they can't commit to a certain number of push ups every day! Good for health, good for heart, good for stress, good for YOU!
To all my friends and readers of this post, I hope you will continue to join me in my journey. I wish you strength and hope for your troubles & peace and joy in your life.  Sincerely!  Evan Juice Cutler (follow me on Facebook) 515-822-4556, [email protected]

My husband was diagnosed of Parkinson’s Disease a couple of years ago, he had severe fatigue, difficulty with mobility and sleeping. He was placed on Sinemet 3 times daily, which helped but only for a short while. So, we decided to try alternative treatment and began on PD-5 protocol, it has made tremendous difference for my husband, he had improved walking balance, muscle strength and he is now very active. His Parkinson’s is totally under control, we got the treatment from binehealthcenter. com. This treatment is a breakthrough for PWP!
