A blog about all the blogs I never blogged
We all have that one list in our notes app.
The one consisting of business ideas and random epiphanies, bucket list items and solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.?
Since I posted my first blog in January, my notes app has received an unprecedented amount of screen time.
I infamously wake up in the middle of the night, write a blog under the glow of my iPhone screen and fall right back to sleep.?
However, very few of my ideas make it to full fruition – let alone do I feel comfortable sharing them for the world to see.
Alas, as the semester wraps up (happy finals eve) and this assignment is almost complete (getting there, Gary Kayye?? CTS ) I thought I’d share some of my blog ideas that will likely stay in my notes app forever… for a variety of reasons…
Why can't I sticker my water bottle?
Turns out, the exact day I planned to post a blog about my inability to commit to putting stickers on my water bottle, my classmate posted about the exact same topic (go check out Caroline Garrett 's blog ??). I find comfort knowing I'm not the only one with commitment issues...
About the above pictures: I could not decide on the sticker arrangement of my water bottle. So, I did the only logical thing – I individually taped each sticker to my Nalgene... then it sat on my desk for five months. Can confirm, I overcame the odds, mustered up every bit of courage and ultimately stickered my water bottle.
A clap pushup a day keeps the doctor away
Every day, I complete a singular clap push up to ensure I never lose the ability to do a clap push up. Recently, this has turned into a challenge to find the most obscure places to accomplish the task.
"A Dog Named Blue"
I started to rewrite the lyrics to Johnny Cash's, “A Boy Named Sue,” so that the song outlined my relationship with MaKenna McGough 's awesome dog, Blue. I absolutely adore my role as "Aunt Jill" – stealing Blue for walks, feeding him one too many treats and laughing at his silly antics. Naturally, I needed to express my love for Blue through song.
Ika means hiccup
This past summer, I spent a week on a boat named “Ika” sailing through the Adriatic Sea. I was told the Croatian word “ika” translates to “hiccup” in English by the crew (however, upon a further Google search, I still have yet to confirm this). Nevertheless, in the same way that hiccups come when you least expect them, briefly interrupting your life, this boat completely threw me off guard – in the best way possible. It was part of my first true solo international trip, where I fell in love with surviving out of a beat-up backpack and sleeping in creaky hostel bunk beds.
I left my childhood in the backseat of a Honda Odyssey
In this blog, I wrote about my childhood through the lens of the third row of my parent's minivan. The minivan was a constant in my formative years, from the silly moments during seemingly endless 12-hour road trips where my dad would "test for poison" in my gas station snacks, to significant milestones where it was overstuffed with my belongings as I was dropped off at my freshman year dorm. The Honda Odyssey was a steadfast presence that captured all of my memories and encapsulated them within its four walls, transforming into a time capsule of both the beauty and the difficulties of the inevitable journey of growing up.
My high thoughts (no, like the altitude...)
I love getting high – in elevation, that is, c'mon now this is LinkedIn! When I am in the mountains surrounded by nature, I feel more grounded and connected to my humanity. It's humbling, making my problems feel inconsequential. I wanted to express the various thoughts – both the profound, poetic insights and the light-hearted, goofy revelations – that run through my head when I'm above the tree line.
My snowboard slid down the side of a mountain
A blog about my first adventure into the backcountry. After three hours of hiking through the snow with no snowshoes or skins, my board slid all the way down the mountain, never to be found again. Let's just say I learned my lesson the hard way.
Picture day
This idea struck me on the day I took my very first professional headshot a few weeks ago. It brought back memories of awkward poses and the pressure of school picture days as a child – the photographer that fixed your hair a lil too much, the pimple that popped up the morning of, the decision to completely fry your hair just to have it curl up by your 1 p.m. time slot. I was planning to include?a collection of my yearbook photos from elementary school to high school and write blurbs from my POV at the time of each picture.

1 年One of the best blogs I’ve ever read. Imagine if I could read the others that I’ll never get to read because they’ll never be written… ??
