In Tribes, Seth Godin states, “But when the world changes, the rules change.”
Irene’s Perspective on Godin’s quote is that we have to allow for the change to happen. Running away from a new generation of students who learn and understand differently than the previous generations is not the way.? Teachers must embrace students and approach lessons with an open heart and mind.
Too many teachers have experienced teaching in the status quo. The place where you risk nothing and cruise along without too many bumps, turns or loops. Well, this proves to be really boring and ineffective.
Ready or not, the world has changed . . .? social media, pandemic, war…can we change too?
How am I supposed to inspire when I am uninspired??
My inspiration came when joining a school group called Innovator’s on Tap. Teachers from all areas of our school have come together with a common goal … reimagining the classroom. Letting go of the concrete answers and allowing for the flow of ideas and solutions. Unimagined and unpredictable solutions need space and time to blossom. Having an open mind to consider the possibilities is the road to inspiration.
Readjusting our mindset can help us understand the classroom today. Currently, I am reimagining a garden with my 2nd grade students. Can a garden be more than flowers or veggies?
How are you changing the rules and reimagining your own classroom?
