Blissipline

Blissipline

I learnt about this word Blisspline recently from a client. It is a word that is a culmination of bliss and discipline.

The entire concept of Blissipline is in experiencing bliss in your current state, whatever situation you are in, whatever your further goals, and your future aspirations.

A friend brought me this awakening couple of months back when I was fretting over a matter. Only I learnt the word for it now. My friend told me, I should start living a blissful life in my own company, irrespective of my surroundings, and state of mind.

Sometimes, we tend to be carried away, dispersed, or deviated from our course of life. Sometimes we are consumed by overbearing goals, caught up in deadlines and overwhelmed by unprecedented life events. And we feel shaken, lost, not in control, and unable to make sense of things. We seek answers we already know; we need to let go of what we are holding to. In all, we are living in the future, or past, depriving our present and especially our peace of mind.

My friend made me realize that I am not enjoying my own company. While I justified by saying, I am a people person and foster with people and their company. It took me some time to realize the intensity of what my friend had said. I kept aside my justification and came to think about life through what was suggested. Quoting from Man's Search for meaning, the classic human guide to thinking and living life, I was made to realize how my thoughts matter, and it was all me first, then came us, we, and all. And if I am happy and mindful, I can create a happy aura around me.

Life has never been easy for most of us, and it tests us time and again. Yet, sometimes touching rock bottom is what gives us strength.

I realized with much contemplation that Blisspline means disconnecting from the frills, the unnecessary distractions, the obvious deviations, and all this under the strict discipline of the mind.

I wondered for an emotional person like me how does this apply? I look at the tail end of things, I expect answers, I want to make sense of my doubts, and I expect complete communication. Only after much deliberation, I realized, it's essentially in disconnecting at the right time from things that are not contributing immediately or in the long-term to your goals and aspirations, does one attain the state of Blissipline.

People come and go

Business deals don't materialize

Commitments come chasing

Plans don't work

Responsibilities keep mounting

In all this, how do you define your bliss? How do you keep that discipline to be blissful?

Its not easy. It means compromising the way you expect things to happen. When we talk about relationships, communication, or business it's a two-way interaction, and attaining Blissipline in such scenarios is letting go of things that are not working. Yet, work where there is hope. And do all this keeping a blissful mind.

·?????Sometimes you have to accept the hard fact that only so much is needed of you

·?????You have to keep quiet even when you have a lot to say

·?????Making a point might make no sense, so don't bother at such times

·?????Comments, feedback, and opinions, could feel like whiplash, take them... but don't process them

·?????Think of what drives you

·?????Do what makes you happy irrespective of all odds

·?????Leave some things to fate and do not over burn with expectations

·?????The only right time is when you are ready

·?????Keep a diary and write there, at least no one will shut you there

·?????And finally, if it's meant for you, it will all come to you

But, for now, at this moment, find your bliss.

Another friend told me last week, that she has not laughed for days together, and I was surprised as much as sad to hear that. We were catching up after 3 years and we both had a hearty laugh in between meaningful catching up over our 2-hour long call. I told her about one practice my friends instilled in me while I worked in a co-sharing space. My friends and I watched comedy serials while we had lunch together, every single day. I continue to do that, every day while having lunch, I watch some comedy shows and that keeps the fun mood on. There's nothing like cracking laughter, and some subdued meanings that challenge the mind.

I asked my friend to start watching some fun shows now, and hope she finds back her laughter.

A relative mentioned watching the FRIENDS show with her husband every night before sleeping, she says, "My husband and I have stopped arguing to a great extent."

After all, there is no rulebook to how you can define your bliss.

I find bliss in my work. I practice meditation, sometimes with open eyes, and otherwise with closed eyes.

I attended an HR conference last evening, and one of the greatest learning from a well-known industry expert speaker was writing your purpose statement. I know what my purpose is, and execution is unveiling. Likewise, if we all think of Blissipline as our purpose, we all shall surely evolve to a much healthy mindset, and I am already evolving.
