Blinds & tie-in; AOGV & operate
A number of tie-in points are prepared with blind-flanged branches which traditionally require a shutdown for the final connection. Up to 2020 shutting down was common practice for such tie-ins. Friday thoughts: Can the AOGV replace this blind and fit a new spool or possibly a new valve without shutting down? The AOGV can replace a blind with a new spool during full operation and this is not shutdown scope anymore. The AOGV handles blind fanges.
IK has been approached on several occasions with shut-down scopes including the tieing in plant extensions to all the necessary piping infrastructures required to operate safely and environmentally sound. Traditional new connection into flare systems or closed drain systems requires an extensive shutdown
The pictures are linked to an 8" request to remove a blind on a flare header and connect a spool for a plant extension.
The flange can be a blind or a flange connected to a pipe.
Decommissioning is also an ongoing activity and systems can be disconnected and the contact point blinded off during normal operation on the installation. With typically 4 years between Shutdowns, the AOGV and the knowledge that the connect and disconnect to major systems when suitable for the project and no effect on the plant production.
Closed drain, instrument air, cooling & heating as well as the main production system is applicable for AOGV operations.

The 8" AOGV was installed on the mock-up test rig in IK Group workshop - a header, a "T" and a blind flange.
The new marginal tie-back does not have to share the cost of the shut-down that may be planned at a convenient time, nor have to wait for this shutdown. Get the new extension online without waiting for the next plant shutdown; early cash flow is good.
The AOGV handles replaces a bling flange with your new tie-in in the most cost-effective way - by far.
