One of the most successful ways to lift business results is to improve how people are managed (1). Helping managers GET BETTER is a win/win for business on so many levels.
A key part of that is shining a light on manager and organisational blind spots. and taking action on them.
My latest research shows that most leaders rate themselves over 7 out of 10 as a leader. But the same leaders aren’t having the basic conversations that help their teams succeed.
And the latest data from Gallup (1) shows that 4 out of 10 managers admit they have not achieved an advanced or expert level of proficiency when it comes to engaging their team or managing performance.
The opportunities are in plain sight for all of us to do better.
Finding YOUR blind spots
We all have them. We all know they exist. Shining a light on blind spots is like finding a key that unlocks better performance in ourself and others.
When leaders see they have missed something out or haven’t done something they should have they usually have an AHA moment which motivates them to grow and improve.
The cost of blind spots
The cost of these gaps is disengaged employees, or about $8.8 TRILLION each year.
If that’s too big a number, then consider your own business. At least $20 000 per year, per employee is lost through poor managers/employee conversations. That’s $20m in a business of 1000 people. Employees that jump ship cost 2.5 times their salary to replace because a manager failed to have the basic conversations that support employees.

ACTING on blind spot data
My manager diagnostic helps individuals and whole teams see their blind spots and how to do better. Working with teams I help them close their gaps. They get their AHA moment AND a capability lift. Win/Win.
When we improve we get compound improvements in customer scores, productivity, performance and sales. Not to mention safety, environmental and wellbeing results: invaluable.
Sometimes we just can’t see what is right in front of us. My diagnostic data makes this easier.
Do you have a blind spot story? How do you shine a light on them in your business?
I love hearing from you.
