Scripture Inspiration
Proverbs 11:25-26 describes the virtue of generosity: "The generous man [is a source of blessing and] shall be prosperous and enriched, And he who waters will himself be watered [reaping the generosity he has sown].The people curse him who holds back grain [when the public needs it], But a blessing [from God and man] is upon the head of him who sells it." (AMP)
Reflection for Today
"God prefers to bless those who are not merely reservoirs of blessings but conduits of them."
The Essence of Being a Conduit of Blessings
Life’s purpose extends beyond just amassing blessings; it’s about transforming into vessels that distribute these blessings.
Illustrating the Concept with Nature
The difference between a stagnant pond and a flowing river captures this concept perfectly. A pond, containing water, remains static, keeping its resources to itself. In contrast, a river is ever-moving, enriching and supporting the environment along its path.
Biblical Example
The scripture from 2 Kings 4:1-7 - The Widow’s Oil - Now one of the wives of a man of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha [for help], saying “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant [reverently] feared the Lord; but the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves [in payment for a loan].” Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have [of value] in the house?” She said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a [small] jar of [olive] oil.” Then he said, “Go, borrow containers from all your neighbors, empty containers—and not just a few. Then you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out [the oil you have] into all these containers, and you shall set aside each one when it is full.” So she left him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing her the containers as she poured [the oil]. When the containers were all full, she said to her son, “Bring me another container.” And he said to her, “There is not a one left.” Then the oil stopped [multiplying]. Then she came and told the man of God. He said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.” (AMP)
Here a widow continuously pours oil until all vessels are full, this serves as a powerful metaphor. Like the endless oil, God’s blessings are plentiful and ever-present, but they must flow through willing channels. Also, even though the request was “out of the ordinary” she shows no signs of doubt, and completely believes in what the Word Of God said that was passed on to her, Her faith and action on her faith got her even more than her expected return
Becoming Effective Distributors
By acting as conduits, like rivers, and sharing our blessings, we not only fulfill a divine purpose but also make room for continued blessings in our lives. God’s intention, exemplified by His blessings to Abram, was not just for Abram to be blessed but also to become a source of blessing to others.
The Principle of Generosity
This teaches us that blessings are meant to be shared, not hoarded. By being conduits of blessings, we align with God’s plan for our lives and trigger a deluge of His generous provision.
What to Do Today
There’s no need to wait for abundance to start blessing others. Begin with what you currently have. Even a modest act of kindness, whether it's offering a small gift, extending a helping hand, or sharing an encouraging word, places you in a position where God’s blessings can pass through you to others.
