Andrew Price - ??GDC
Founder & CEO of Poliigon and Blender Guru (aka “the donut guy”) ??
Long awaited "Simulation Nodes" are finally here: a flexible system for creating complex animations and generative modelling (watch intro video). It's only just arrived, but we've already seen it used for landscape erosion, 2D drawing effects, donut building and organic model generation. These capabilities will only grow with future updates (loops, physics and presets).
Other improvements in this Blender release are:
This is the final release of the version 3.x series. Next up: 4.0 expected as early as November!
Legendary artist Oleg Vdovenko, returns with another unconventional horror short. Everything from the sound design to the animation is masterfully done.
If you hate how frequently object trackers fail, you'll love this. Not only does it maintain the points across moving camera frames, but it even retains it on occlusion. Impressive.
Finally, a reader sent me this fun VFX Quiz to pass the time while waiting for renders. I scored an 8/10, see if you can beat me!

PS. Something to listen to while Blendering; my interview with Colin Levy (Director Sintel, Agent 327 and Skywatch). We talk about burnout, AI, and advice for filmmakers today.
